A single engine plane crashed in Woodbury Township, Blair County near Williamsburg Thursday morning at 8:44 in the morning.
Investigators confirmed the only two people who were on board the Cirrus SR22 died in the crash.
We’re told a nearby homeowner heard the explosion, saw the plane engulfed in flames and tried to put out the fire with a garden hose.
The plane disintegrated on impact. Debris scattered the nearby field behind Stewart’s Precision Auto on Larke Road.
Investigators said both victims are men. They believe they know the identity of one victim, who was ejected from the plane, because they found his wallet nearby. They’re waiting to confirm his identify and notify family before releasing his name.
As for the second victim, investigators said they’ll have to use dental records to confirm his identity.
FAA officials were also on scene, but couldn’t say what led to the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board will be on the scene Friday to investigate what caused the deadly plane crash.
