Two arrested after man nearly dies from overdose

Police arrested two men over the weekend who they said sold heroin to a man who almost died.

Official said these arrests were a success after they received multiple tips to the drug hotline.

Police arrested 28-year-old Clinton Carney and 30-year-old Corey Boring over the weekend after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a man in cardiac arrest.

Officials said Carney and Boring sold heroin to that man who overdosed. The man survived after police officers administered two doses of Narcan to him. He was later transported to the UPMC.

Chief Rodney Estep, Hollidaysburg Police Chief, said folks tend to distance themselves from these crimes, but they need to remember that a man in their community almost died.

“He’s a family member. His wife is recently pregnant. This is a neighborhood, and the neighbors came over and consoled them the night that we were there interviewing him after he had survived the overdose, so to make these a victimless crime is a mistake,” Chief Estep said.

Both Carney and Boring will have preliminary hearings next Tuesday.
