Two people are dead after a standoff in Delaware County, Delaware.

The suspect in the standoff shot and killed Corporal Stephen Ballard.

The incident began Wednesday when the trooper saw a suspicious vehicle with two occupants in the store parking lot of a Wawa.

Officials say there was a struggle when the trooper made contact with one of the suspects.

That’s when that suspect allegedly pushed, and then shot the trooper.

The trooper was rushed to the hospital but he died of his injuries there.

The second suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The shooter, fled and barricaded himself inside his home.

The suspect shot at additional troopers as they responded.

After several hours, the suspect was killed Thursday morning.

The suspect has not yet been identified.
