The ElDorado Kiwanis Club in Altoona has been selling Christmas Trees for the last 50 years, all for a good cause.
Proceeds from the sale go to their fundraising efforts for the Miracle League of Blair County. The Miracle League provides the opportunity to play and learn the game of baseball to children with special needs.
Kiwanis Club Board Member Ed Shrift says, “The kids, you know, have some challenges but they round the bases, and they cross home plate and they score a run. When they go back to school they can tell their kids that we were on a team this summer and we played ball.”
Brenda Kosko-Blyler has bought a tree from the Kiwanis for the last 4 years. She said, “We come here because of the organization and where the money is going. That’s the main reason why we come.”
There are currently around 20 trees left. The price range is $35-$45. Hours are weeknights from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays Noon to 8 p.m.
They hope to sell out this weekend.
