Thompson town hall live streamed to entire 5th district

Protesters stood outside of a town hall meeting for 5th District Congressman Glenn Thompson, Thursday.

The town hall was inside the WPSU Studios at University Park.

Some from the group ‘We are PA five,’ in orange shirts were there, to raise support to replace Thompson.
Many are unhappy with his support of the GOP healthcare bill.

“Congressman Thompson’s voting and his general lack of concern for his constituents, my patients, is one of the biggest barriers to people getting health in his district that I can think or imagine,” Pattie Beem, a nurse manager, said.

Thompson’s town hall was live streamed out to the entire 5th district

The questions posed to Congressman Thompson largely concentrated on healthcare issues and potential cuts to people’s insurance coverage.

Thompson says he’s committed to meeting with his constituents and to fixing the problems that remain with the Affordable Care Act.

“The bottom line is today in Centre County after all that, and Affordable Care Act being implemented, nine percent of residents are without insurance, it was 9000 today its over 11000, and that’s one indicator we can do better and that’s my commitment.”

There were many questions that were unanswered from the town hall and there was a request by Thompson’s constituents to repeat the event in other parts of the district.
