UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Theta Chi fraternity has been suspended at Penn State due to misconduct allegations.
Penn State Student Affairs placed the Omega chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity on interim suspension Wednesday while they investigate alleged alcohol misuse and a serious student injury.
While the fraternity is suspended, they will lose all student organization privileges, including:
- new member activities
- membership recruitment
- participation in University-wide events
- hosting social events
The University adopted reform measures in 2017, aimed at improving student safety and success in the context of the University fraternity and sorority community.
“The University is determined to do all it can to encourage safety, success, and sustainability for the organizations comprising its fraternity and sorority system,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Damon Sims.
A key part of that encouragement is our intolerance for organizations that pursue activities that are anything but safe and which fail to follow our expectations for their behavior.”

Theta Chi’s national organization is aware of the situation and is cooperating with the investigation. Additional sanctions may result after the investigation is finished.
