Runners are getting ready to lace up their shoes and hit the pavement for the “Race, Rock & Rise” Johnstown Marathon this Saturday, October 7.

The 40-year tradition was canceled in 2016. This year, Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center is sponsoring the event. 150 runners and 50 volunteers have signed up.

Race organizers are inviting people to cheer on the runners as they tackle the challenging 26.2 mile route around Johnstown.

“We want to see this continue so that the community will have something they can say, ‘hey, this is neat, let’s showcase this.” Mark McCall, Race Director

The marathon route runs throughout different neighborhoods in Johnstown. The route will be marked by tulips spray-painted along the road.
