School may be out for the summer, but a group of local students are gearing up for their annual summer play.

Every day this week members of the Elk County Council on the Arts summer theater camp are meeting at the St. Marys High School to practice their version of “Honk Jr.”, a musical about the ugly duckling.

WTAJ’s “On the Road” stopped by to one of their practices and spoke with 15 year old Olivia Matja who says she’s excited to see the theater group back together this summer.

What makes this performance even more impressive, the kids are in 3rd grade though 11th grade, only have one week to learn everything.

They practice from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. all week.

“Honk Jr.” will debut on Friday at 7 p.m. at the St. Marys High School Auditorium.
