Residents of Blair County were able to properly dispose of their hazardous waste on July 7 and 8. The Intermunicipal Relations Committee hosted its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection event at PNG field.
Residents from all but one municipality in the county participated in the event. There was a total of over 425 households and six small businesses.
Participants were able to dispose of items like paint products, aerosols, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs and more.
The event will not happen again until 2018, but some items such as batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and used motor oil are accepted at the IRC Buckhorn and Recycling facility located on Blacksnake Road. Residents can find a list of accepted items and hours of operation on the IRC website at IRCenvironment.org.
