A group of Clearfield County students are organizing a 5k for people and their pets next Saturday.

Reese Wells, Tierra Miller, Hannah Switala are all students at Clearfield County Career and Technology Center.

The K9 5K is part of their Skills USA Community Service Team project.

All proceeds from the race will go to the Clearfield County SPCA.

Race day is Saturday, April 6th. Day-of registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The 5k starts at 11 a.m.

You are welcome to bring your pet to walk or run the race with you.

All three students have been volunteering at the SPCA since beginning their project in October.

“I’ve seen animals put into the SPCA, I’ve seen people adopt from there, but I never knew how much help they needed to take care of the animals,” Miller said.

They said they want to bring the community together for a good cause.

Working with the animals is really awesome too because you see these animals that have not very good homes, Wells said. That’s what we’re hoping to do by giving back to them is hopefully they can find good homes and good places to live.

The students are also looking for vendors to set up at the race– all they ask is for a donation for their basket raffle.

If interested in being a vendor at the race, email k95k@ccctc.edu.
