Local high school students are learning what it takes to get a job after graduation.

Thursday, 10th-12th graders from Cambria and Somerset Counties attended the Success is Intentional! Youth Professional Development Conference at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center in Johnstown.

The 7th annual event is hosted by Human Resources of the Alleghenies and JAR.

The kids listened to different speakers and presentations to learn about local career opportunities and the do’s and don’t’s of entering the workforce.

“We do have a plethora of opportunities here, from a job opportunity, from a career standpoint, ” said Debi Balog, the JARI workforce development director. “I think it’s important for them to hear about that, but also to hear about, ‘How can I prepare for these careers that are available to me.”

If students would like to learn more about job opportunities in their area, they can visit JARI’s website or contact their local PA CareerLink.
