CRESSON, CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — To some, it’s silence. To others, it’s speech.

Students at Mount Aloysius are offering an entire interpreting conference in American Sign Language all weekend long.

“This shows respect to the deaf community and shows that we want to be a part of the deaf community in any way that we can,” Kierstin Muroski, Program Coordinator for the Department of ASL and English Interpreting at the college, said.

Professional interpreters and deaf individuals will host workshops and presentations.

Even Saturday night’s magician, Magic Morgan, is completely deaf.

“Deaf individuals are not considered disabled. they are perfectly able to do anything a hearing person can do. the only thing they can’t do is hear,” Jessica Churpita, freshman at Mount Aloysius College, said.

This weekend in Cresson, silence will fill the air.
