The State Senate gave final approval to a bill designed to strengthen the Protect From Abuse Act.
Under the legislation anyone found guilty of domestic violence and sentenced would be required to give up all firearms in their possession within 48 hours.
It also bans them from giving them to a family member or friend, forcing them to give them to a law enforcement officer, authorized gun dealer or an attorney.
