State Representative Sid Kavulich died this morning at a Philadelphia hospital where he was recovering from major surgery earlier this month.

Representative Kavulich was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2010, and has represented the 114th Legislative District since 2011.

Governor Tom Wolf ordered all Commonwealth flags to half-staff in his honor today. “Rep. Kavulich was passionate about life, whether it be sports or public service,” Governor Wolf said. “The people of Northeastern Pennsylvania have lost a dedicated community advocate and we all have lost a tremendous friend. Our thoughts are with Sid’s family, especially Linda and his children, and all of his colleagues and constituents.”

State officials also laid a black cloth on Kavulich’s chair on the House floor in Harrisburg.

Kavulich was 62 years old, and is survived by his wife, two daughters and son.
