Dozens of hikers spent their morning at Parker Dam State park, getting a healthy start to the New Year
“Just wanted to get some exercise, get the dog out of the house, get the new year started off right,” Hiker Spencer Irwin said.
At Parker Dam State Park, and state parks all across the country, people came together for the First Day Hike.
Hikers at Parker Dam took a two mile walk around the CCC Trail to experience the nature and history of the park.
“It’s very interesting to see the inside of the log cabin and all the fixtures and all the items that are in there, very interesting,” hiker Bob Lope said.
The hike is designed to get people outdoors, get some exercise and start the new year down a healthy path.
The First Day Hike has been held in state parks every New Years Day since 2012.
