State commonwealth unveils enviromentally friendly cars

Pennsylvania unveiled some environmentally friendly new rides today.

The commonwealth’s hybrid and electric vehicles pilot program aims to reduce the carbon footprint.

A total of 25 new vehicles will be hitting the road for the state vehicle fleet.

Commonwealth members say they hope to spark more interest in hybrid and electric cars.

“The cars are affordable, and as people see gasoline prices going up and down and up, they’re going to start to think, well maybe it’s time to buy a hybrid vehicle or electric vehicle,” said Cindy Adams Dunn, the secretary of department of conservation.

The pilot program is expected to last about 3 to 5 years, and the commonwealth will then decide how to expand.
