An email was sent out Tuesday morning detailing new measures State College schools are taking due to hot weather.

The State College Area School District (SCASD) alerted parents that since several of the elementary schools are not air conditioned, they would be moving students to spaces at the middle schools that are air conditioned, including the libraries, cafeterias, and auditoriums.

These measures are being taken during the afternoons at the hottest point of the day, from 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will last today through Thursday.

Radio Park and Corl Street students and faculty will go to Park Forest Middle School, and Lemont and Houserville students and faculty will move to Mount Nittany Middle School.

At the end of the day, children will still be released from the home elementary schools. The school district has said that they will be giving out cold water bottles to help the students stay cool.

SCASD said that regular routines should resume on Friday with cooler weather.

If parents have questions or concerns, they can contact their building principal.
