State College police look to update AED database with public help

State college police are asking for the public’s help in saving a life.

They are asking for any business, public office building or place of worship to let them know if there is an automated external defibrillator there.

The database will be compiled to for anyone that calls 911, with the hopes to get cardiac arrest patients help sooner.

“This information is going to be given to anybody that calls 911. So, if you’re AED or CPR certified, when you call 911, say there’s a cardiac arrest, the dispatcher is gonna give that information to the person,” Community Relations/Crime Prevention Officer Adam Salyards said.

Some offices and places of worship have already responded to the request.

Information can be updated by visiting the department’s website.
