Who doesn’t love a parade? St. Marys is preparing for a big celebration as the city get sets to marks its 175th anniversary.

The St. Marys American Legion is organizing a parade to coincide with the annual Bavarian Fall Festival in September.

The parade will start at the Elk County Catholic School and will take participants on a route about a mile and a half through town.

“The parade is all the civic organizations in town and many of the local businesses are entering floats,” said Steven Bagley, American Legion Post 103. “We are also inviting marching bands and the Jaffa Shriners to participate so we are hoping for about a two hour parade.”

The parade is scheduled for September 16th. The city of St. Marys was founded in 1842.
