Altoona resident Lori Forshey spent some of her Wednesday afternoon brushing several inches of snow off her car.
“I mean it’s nice to look out,” Forshey told us. “When you have to shovel, I’m over it.”
People all across our region were digging out from the snow storm. They were shoveling driveways and clearing the sidewalks.
As the flakes kept falling, the phone kept ringing at Professionals Auto Body.
“Our tow trucks have just been busier than heck all morning long,” Ron Perretta, owner of Professionals Auto Body, said. “Of course then that’s going to roll over to the shops and they’re going to be busy because of all the fender benders that are going on.”
Delivery drivers were also out and about.
Mama Randazzo’s Pizzeria in Altoona stayed busy. Orders were mostly for takeout.
“When people call in on a day like today we’ll tell them we’ll be there as soon as we can,” Paolo Randazzo, owner of Mama Randazzo’s Pizzeria, said. “On a day like today we don’t even give estimates. We’ll say we’ll get it there when we can.”
While the snow is a lot of work, people are hopeful the end is in sight.
“I need some sunshine now,” Forshey smiled. “I’m ready for the shorts and picnic weather.”
The weather also has negative effects on businesses. The Logan Valley Mall had to shut down because of the snow.
