Something new brewing in Bellefonte

BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Plans are underway for a new brewery in Bellefonte.

“The Axemann Brewery” will occupy a portion of the old Cerro Metal Plant, now called Titan Park, on Axemann Road in Bellefonte.

The brewery’s owner from Boalsburg says he’s been home-brewing for many years, but is now looking to turn the old plant into the largest brewery in Centre County.

The proposed 20,000-square-foot brewery will include indoor and outdoor seating, overlooking the Logan Branch Stream.

It will also have a spot for outdoor games like cornhole, and a second floor for private events, featuring an outdoor deck.

The theme for the taproom will center around old factory’s metal manufacturing history, and they plan to sell cans, kegs, pints, and growlers.

The owner says Axemann Brewery’s flagship beer will be called “Blue Strip,” which he describes as an easy-drinking pilsner.

The brewery is looking for someone to take ownership of an on-site kitchen, which could also serve for take-out and catering.

The new brewery could open as early as September 1, 2019.
