SOMERSET, Pa. (WTAJ) — Somerset Borough Police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Jared Lee Lehman for Assault and endangering the welfare of children.
On April 26, 2019, police were alerted by the Somerset County Children and Youth Services that a 15-month-old child from Somerset was at the Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with a subdural hemorrhage/bleeding of the brain. Hospital staff stated it was caused by trauma, possible impact and/or shaking.
Police and a CYS worker went to the hospital and met with the child’s mother, and with Lehman. During the course of the interview, Lehman made self-incriminating statements.
Lehman had admitted to having shaken the 15-month-old multiple times.
Lehman was arrested on Tuesday, April 30, and was placed in the Somerset County Jail.
The child is still hospitalized and there’s currently no update on the condition.
