A Somerset County man has been arrested for resisting arrest and terroristic threats.

Jason Carpenter, 34, contacted police and surrendered to the arrest warrant last Friday at 3:10 p.m. He said he would meet police at District Judge Kenneth Johnson’s office. He was originally arraigned on drug charges and became upset when he was remanded to the Somerset County Jail. He was also told he had unpaid traffic fines and became more agitated.

As officers prepared to move Carpenter to the county jail, he put on a heavy winter coat and refused to take it off when asked to. Carpenter then started swearing at the officers and began to resist the officers’ attempt to handcuff him. He also threatened to kill the officers once he got out of jail.

He is currently in the Somerset County Jail on the original drug charges and is waiting a preliminary arraignment on charges of resisting arrest and terroristic threats.
