Severe weather hits parts of our region

Severe weather hit parts of our region Tuesday.

Our meteorologists immediately warned viewers of the thunderstorms and potential for tornadoes, important information officials want people to take seriously.

“They don’t need to panic,” Dave Cubbison, from the Bedford County EMA, said. “Usually these warnings come out a few minutes ahead of time.”

Heavy rain and blasts of strong winds showed up in Bedford County. Some roadways were also flooded in other parts of Central Pennsylvania.

A tree even fell onto a car in Elk County. A branch crashed through the sunroof onto the driver who is now being checked out by doctors.

Emergency management officials worked quickly to let people know the dangers of these storms.

“People need to just stop, take a deep breath and ask how can I protect myself,” Cubbison said.

There have been no confirmed reports of tornadoes touching down in our region.
