An officer working at SCI Smithfield in Huntingdon County was taken to the hospital Sunday morning.

We’re told it happened when two officers noticed an inmate acting suspiciously. Officials said after a search, an item that had a white, orange and blue paper dropped on the floor. One of the officers picked it up and minutes later got a headache.

Doctors at the prison suggested he go to the hospital. The communications director for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections told us as the officer was getting ready to go, he became increasingly disoriented and confused. An ambulance was then called and he was taken to J.C. Blair Hospital.

No other employees reported feeling sick.
