A local school is getting some help to continue winning in national robotics competitions.

Admiral Peary Vo-Tech has been competing for eight years and has won more than 90 matches. They were one of 12 teams chosen across the country to win a $2,500 tool grant from Sears Craftsman.

“In between matches, the battlebots get beat up and destroyed so the students will utilize all the tools that were obtained  through the grant to repair and fix up the robots in order to get them ready for the next matches,” Engineering Technology Instructor Michael Dolges said.

Both of the school’s competing robots are ranked in the top three out of more than 60 bots and will be competing in the finals at California University of Pennsylvania on April 28 for the chance to win $5,000.
