The State College Area school board voted tonight to continue developing the district’s student day proposal

Directors voted unanimously to keep working on a plan that would have elementary students begin school at 8:10 a.m.– and would extend the school day by about 45 minutes.

Supporters of that plan say it would give teachers more time to teach the core subjects like reading and math.

The school board president said the details and conflicts of this plan still need to be discussed, but she wants to benefit as many students as possible.

“I would say no particular schedule is going to be best for everyone, so what we are really trying to do is come up with a schedule that works the best for the most people,” said Amber Concepcion, the school board president.
The board says they may expect to make their final decision come December.
