A coach at an area high school is facing DUI charges.

Today, the State College Area School District released a statement acknowledging the situation.

Aaron Workman, the swimming coach, faces two charges of dui from the March 13th incident. According to court documents he had a BAC over .16.

A member of the school’s transportation staff was concerned and contacted police during the incident. The school says Workman was not driving a school vehicle and no students were involved.

Workman has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 25th.

The State College Police Department has filed charges of DUI against Aaron Workman. Mr. Workman was the head coach of the SCASD swimming and diving team at the time of this incident. However, we want to emphasize that no students were involved in this incident, nor had Mr. Workman been driving a district vehicle.

While this is an unfortunate incident, I want to commend our transportation department staff for their diligence and prompt action to ensure the safety of our students.

Beyond these comments, we are not able to elaborate further because this is a legal matter. If you have additional questions, please contact the District Attorney’s office.
