JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Police are warning people in the Cambria County area of a scam that has come to their attention.

People are being called by someone who claims to be Captain Miller of the Johnstown Police Force. The scammer tells people that they missed jury duty and need to pay a fine. Some also claim that there is a family emergency and a loved one needs money.

They will leave a number that goes to an answering machine that claims to be the Johnstown Police Department, Capt. Miller’s office.
