The PA Department of Health (DOH) has reported the first probable human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in 2017. On Wednesday, DOH announced that the infection, which is spread by mosquitoes, was detected in a Montgomery County resident.
To protect yourself, state officials recommend using insect repellents containing DEET, and covering exposed skin with lightweight clothing.
The Department of Environment Protection (DEP) says it’s detected mosquitoes carrying the virus in 36 counties and continues to monitor mosquito activity across the state.
