Renovations at the Stonycreek Whitewater and Greenhouse Park in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County are finally complete after more than a decade.

Friday, county and state officials, and recreational enthusiasts attended a re-dedication ceremony for the park.

It has new whitewater boating features, an indoor restroom and security features.

In total, building the parks and the renovations cost about $1.5 million.

“It’s testimony to a lot of people who had a first, vision, but second of all, tenacity to see it through,” said Howard “Skip” Picking III, the outgoing chairman for the Stonycreek-Quemahoning Initiative.

This weekend, the annual Stonycreek Rendezvous kicks off at the park for anyone looking for a whitewater adventure.
