As we approach the new year, many are probably planning on celebrating.

WTAJ wants to remind you to do it safely.

We spoke with Blair County Sheriff James Ott, who is warning folks about the dangers of drinking and driving.

He says to plan ahead if you intend on drinking, making sure you have a designated driver.

“Make sure you have arrangements for a ride,” says Ott. “Obviously plan ahead because there’s going to be a lot of activity whether it’s through a cab or an Uber, things like that. You want to make sure you give enough time for it otherwise make arrangements to stay where you’re at.”
