A State Representative is reminding area residents that if you want to go on a fishing trip this Labor Day weekend, you’ll have to pick up a fishing license.
Representative Carl Walker Metzgar (R-Bedford/Somerset) says that the State Fish and Boat Commission is offering a special license that’s valid September 4th, for a reduced price of only $1.
He says he hopes the inexpensive license will encourage more people to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
Nineteen lakes will be open for fishing on Labor Day, including Quemahoning Reservoir in Somerset County.
Youth anglers, 15 and under, must have a Mentored Youth Fishing Permit, or Voluntary Youth Fishing license. Kids must also be accompanied by a licenses adult in order to participate.
