It didn’t take long for a recently released inmate to get right back into the life of crime.
Police say, Tuesday night Thomas Williams car jacked a 65-year-old woman in Greensburg. That was right after he walked out of the Westmoreland County Prison, following a guilty plea of drug dealing.
Authorities say he forced the woman out of the car, hitting her multiple times, driving away with the woman’s one year old grandson still in the back seat.
“He must have seen an opportunity and he took advantage of the opportunity and jumped on the vehicle and fled,” said Westmoreland Co. Park Police Chief, Kirk Nolan.
Williams ended up crashing the car and was re-arrested. The woman and her grandson were taken to the hospital. Both are doing fine.
Williams is back in the same prison, facing kidnapping, robbery and aggravated assault charges.
