Radio station and listeners tackle cancer

A local radio station and its listeners are making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. The Froggy 98 morning team, at Forever Broadcasting, presented a $10,000 check to the American Cancer Society on Monday.
Jojo and Leapin” Lily have a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team and they’ve been raising money during the month of  October. They set a $9800 goal for obvious reasons, but listeners helped them take it over the top.

“The response it was insane. We did not think that we were going to get this much,” Lily says.

And Lisa Koncz, who’s with the Blair County Chapter of the American Cancer Society is thrilled with the donation.

“That is a phenomenal feat, not only for the both of them and the radio station, but really for those listeners and supporters that supported their campaign, she says.

Lily believes Froggy 98 listeners deserves a lot of the credit.

“Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to come and visit us during our live action broadcasts, thank you to everyone that has donated online, in person, you are appreciated,” she says.

Lily has a special reason to be grateful for the support.

“My Mom-Mom has been suffered with breast cancer now for seven months so I really wanted to do this this is something I  was passionate about,” Lily explains.

She’s very interested in spreading the word about the importance of early detection. Lily says her grandmother waited a little while before having her cancer diagnosed.

The donations will  help area patients who need wigs after chemo, lodging,  rides for treatment, or other types of support. A large share of the money also goes to research and a 24 hour cancer help line.
