PSU professor to help with congressional map

A Penn State professor has been named by Governor Tom Wolf to a commission that will make recommendation about redrawing congressional maps in Pennsylvania.

Lee Ann Banaszak is the head of Penn State’s Department of Political Science and one of 15 members chosen for that commission.

She tells us she’s honored to be one of the two commission members from a state educational institution, and has some ideas about what the commission needs to do to be successful.

“First, listen to citizens of Pennsylvania and what are there concerns about redistricting and how it is done” said Banaszak “And secondly really to look around the United States and maybe even to other countries to see what are the processes that other states have used.”

Pennsylvania’s next redistricting will take place in 2020.
