The Bedford Area School District is responding to a potential threat at the homecoming dance Saturday night.

School leaders have posted the following statement to their website:

In an effort to provide Parents and guardians with timely and viable information regarding an incident at the homecoming dance, the Bedford Area School District wants parents and guardians to know that no students were harmed at the homecoming dance as a result of an unverified rumor that a student was planning on causing harm at the dance.  Although the rumor has not been verified, students reacted appropriately to the rumor and quickly evacuated the homecoming dance.  The district is in the process of reunifying parents with their children.  Again, no students were harmed at the homecoming dance this evening.  The district will continue to provide information as it becomes available.

10:03 P.M.

All students have left the dance at this point and the District has attempted to reunify all students with their parents.  Any parents that have not made contact with their child please contact Bedford High School at 814-623-4250 or kanek@bedfordasd.org.  Again we want parents and guardians to know that no students were harmed at the homecoming dance this evening. The district will continue to provide information as it becomes available.

10:10 P.M.

In an effort to provide parents with the most up to date information, we want parents to know the police interviewed the student who made the alleged threat and have not found any evidence of any credible threat at this time.  The District and Police will continue to investigate this issue and any leads.  Anyone who has any creditable information should contact the Bedford Borough Police.
