On Wednesday Ardell Gross faced a judge for his arraignment, where he officially pleaded ‘not guilty’ to killing his 60 year old uncle, Richard Smalley.
Gross is accused of shooting and killing his Smalley in his home along Whitman Ave. in Pleasant Gap.
According to court documents, Gross called 911 on himself after shooting Smalley.
Police said Gross explained he and Smalley had an argument following the death of Gross’ grandfather the night before.
Gross said Smalley was betraying him and was going to take everything including the home he resided in with his grandfather.
According to police reports, Gross fired two bullets.
At his preliminary hearing, a detective testified that Gross showed no remorse for the situation, rather signs of anger.
Gross is now facing two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
Before his arraignment wrapped up, Gross signed a document stating he is ultimately pleading ‘not guilty’ and plans to move forward with a jury trial.
