An Ohio woman is behind bars in connection to the double murder of two local men.
Investigators said Jasmine Browning, 24, may be linked to the murders of James Smith and Damian Staniszewski, whose skeletal remains were found in September 2017 in Somerset County.
The two victims were last seen together in March 2017.
In a search warrant filed by Ohio police, investigators said Browning is the girlfriend of the primary suspect, who’s currently in jail for drug and weapons charges.
In that police paperwork, investigators said Smith and Staniszewski stole drugs, money and a handgun from the suspect’s stash house.
That’s when police said Browning may have set up a drug deal with the victims, where they were held captive and possibly tortured for a few days before they were taken to the woods where their bodies were found.
Browning appeared in an Ohio courtroom Tuesday. She’s facing felony aggravated assault and conspiracy charges. Ohio police ordered a search warrant for Browning’s DNA, which police believe could link her to the murders.
She’ll appear in court again in May.
The Somerset County District Attorney told WTAJ News that she can’t comment on Browning’s arrest or the murder investigation at this time.
