State police in DuBois are investigating multiple incidents of theft from a Goodwill in Jefferson County.
Surveillance footage from the Goodwill in Reynoldsville shows two women and one man get out of their car, remove bags from the donation box, then leave the scene on Thursday, December 20 around 4 a.m.
Now police are investigating what manager Tina Uhl is calling a string of recent thefts by different people.
“I just recently have been hit big-time this past month or so,” Uhl said.
Most of the thefts happened between December 10 and 20 and between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
“The donations that are being taken isn’t benefiting anybody except the person that is taking them,” store associate Debbie Edwards said.
Uhl said when people steal the bags, they’re taking more than just donations, they’re taking away from Goodwill’s mission.
“Without the donations, we don’t have a job,” Uhl said. “We need those donations to keep filling the stores and to give the ones with disabilities a chance to work, to do their job, to learn something new.”
