LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A police chase Saturday night in Clearfield County resulted in serious injuries to a driver who got caught up in the incident.
State police at Clearfield say it started when a trooper tried to stop a vehicle on I-80 for a traffic violation, but the driver took off. The trooper lost sight of the vehicle, but it was picked up by two police cars from the Lawrence Township department. They joined the pursuit with one of them getting hit by the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect continued on, and so did police. One of the township cars collided with an unrelated vehicle in Bradford Township. The driver of that car suffered serious injuries.
The suspect police had been pursuing, Shawn Shipton from Williamsport, was arrested on a charge of fleeing and eluding.
