Officials are reminding dog owners to do their part to keep their pets safe.

Governor Tom Wolf has declared this month “Love Your Dog Month”.

Part of pet safety includes renewing you dog’s license.

Besides making it easier to reunite lost pets with their owners, the small fee paid for the license goes towards a good cause.

“The license fee that we pay as dog owners goes to support our Beaus Dog Law to make that those dogs that are lost are returned, strays that they find can find a home, we oversee the kennels and make sure that those dogs that are in those kennels are safe and to the highest standards, and dangerous dogs that are out there to the public are protected and are taking their responsibilities,” said Russell Redding, Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture.

Pennsylvania law requires a current license for all dogs at least three months old.
