A special guest spent Wednesday evening bringing holiday cheer to area veterans.

Pennsylvania’s Adjutant General made a visit to the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in Blair County.

There, he had dinner with veterans and their families.

He also talked to them one on one, sharing experiences and stories about their time in the service.

Major General Tony Carrelli encourages each of us to try to do the same.

“You need to appreciate the freedoms that we have here, the liberties we have in the U.S. And, you need to appreciate those veterans because they’re the ones that preserved that freedom,” said Major General Carrelli. “The people that are walking around the halls here, they’re the ones that fought, served, and sacrificed to have that freedom.”

Also at the dinner, there was also an empty table to honor those who didn’t return home from war.
