Governor Tom Wolf announced Thursday that additional crews are headed down to help with Florence relief.

More than 25 Pennsylvania National Guard members and six Fish and Boat commission rescue technicians have left with four helicopters from Indiantown Gap and Johnstown. They’ll be stationed at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, near Columbia South Carolina, to assist with the response.

Governor Wolf says he is incredibly proud of their readiness and willingness to jump in to aid during times like this.

“We’ll respond as people in the areas affected feel they’re affected. and we’ll respond as part of a broader federal effort,” said Governor Wolf. “We’ve done this before, and we want to be a good partner to our fellow states.”

The crew will join thousands of National Guard members and first responders who are organizing and preparing supplies.

The Pennsylvania National Guard has responded to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in 2017.
