A Pennsylvania Marine sergeant killed in the line of duty has been laid to rest.

31-year-old Benjamin Hines died in a bomb attack in Afghanistan on April 8th, 2019.

Hines was from Dallastown, York County.

In his obituary, the family described Hines as a selfless individual who put the needs of others before his own, laying down his life for his country. 

“He is the complete patriot of the united states everything he’s done is always for the country,” says Hines’ cousin Jeremiah Stahlman.

“We all know when we sign the line that that could be the ultimate price we pay for defending our freedom and freedoms around the world,” says Andrew Page, a medically retired veteran.

Sergeant Hines, a sibling of 6, leaves behind a family and a fiance who he planned on marrying in October.

His mother, writing a letter to her son, saying she imagines his wings will be red white and blue.
