Penn State passes tuition increase

The Penn State Board of Trustees voted to pass the 2017-2018 budget, which includes in-state tuition increases at University Park and other campuses.

The budget had a proposed increase of $2 million.

That increase will include a 2.45 tuition increase or about $232 per semester for in-state undergraduate students at University Park.

A tuition increase for other undergraduate students at satellite campuses was also passed.

With the increase in tuition, some students are worried about what this could mean for their future.

“I’m already thinking more loans to take out. And for me, I’m an RA, so I already get free housing. So for others that might be very difficult to get loans out, take more loans out. It’s definitely more debt for us after college.” Penn State Student Idalis Davis.

Students will see those tuition increases starting as early as this fall.
