The Penn State Altoona campus has closed Wednesday at 5 p.m. and all classes will be canceled for the entire day on Thursday.

Only employees previously identified as performing essential services should stay after the official release time. Faculty and staff that don’t perform essential services should leave at the official release time and not report to work on January 31.

Normal operations are scheduled to resume on February 1, pending a further review of weather conditions by campus officials.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for Blair County, lasting into January 31. Forecasts call for temperatures to drop below 0 degrees Fahrenheit Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, with wind chill values well below 0.
