The state auditor general says the agencies leading Pennsylvania’s fight against opioid abuse are making progress, but it’s hard to measure how effective their efforts are. Eugene DePasquale audited the Departments of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Human Services, and Corrections.
His report, released on Thursday, concludes that the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs doesn’t receive enough funding. It also expresses concern about the monitoring of treatment programs for Medicaid patients and prison inmates.
DePasquale says he’s concerned about the accuracy of the data on whether treatment programs are working.
