A paid work program is looking to hire 16-24-year-olds this summer across central Pennsylvania.

Each summer, Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies works with PA CareerLink in Cambria, Bedford and Blair County to connect young adults with local jobs.

Employees work up to 30 hours a week, for up to 12 weeks and are paid $8 an hour.

Jobs range from healthcare and nursing, to manual labor or childcare.

The young adults also get career planning advice and help overcoming any barriers that make it hard for them to find or keep a job.

“Transportation, homelessness. We also work with the Cambria County Teen Parenting Program, so, a lot of those youth need connected to childcare services. It’s not only giving them work experience, but connecting them to community resources,” said Sarah Helman, the project manager of Youth Services for the Cambria County CareerLink.

Applications are due at the end of May. To apply, contact your local PA CareerLink or Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies by calling: (814) 536-3536.
