A bill that would help free up money to improve the state’s unemployment centers passed the senate.

Close to 500 workers  back in December were laid off after there wasn’t enough funding to keep the centers open — including the one in Altoona. Throughout the bill up to $15 million would be put into a fund to be used for improvements – in hopes of reopening the call centers.

The funding, however, is temporary and would end this December.
